SAVE THE DATE: Anirban Basu will be the headliner for the January CLN Conference in Tampa

Anirban Basu | Economist | Construction Leadership ConferenceAnirban Basu, Chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc. will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Construction Leadership Network (CLN) conference. The conference is set for January 22-24, 2018 at the Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina in Tampa.

January's conference will include 18 specialized focus groups, keynote and motivational speakers, hands-on workshops, networking lunches, peer group roundtables, certifications and specialized training, panel discussions, and full access to the best contractors and construction service providers in North America.

In his keynote address, Basu will bring a wealth of information to CLN members about the current state of economic development as it relates to commercial construction, manufacturing and finance. As Chief Economist to the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and Chief Economic Advisor to the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), Basu has extensive background in economics, strategic analysis, policy, and urban development as it relates to construction in North America.

“Anirban not only has one of the most recognized economists in the country, he is a very entertaining speaker. He possesses the ability to take a seemingly dull topic such as economics and makes it something we all can understand and actually enjoy,” notes Stephanie Schmidt, Principal of the Construction Leadership Network.

Basu’s firm, an economic and policy consulting firm headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland with offices in Pennsylvania and Indonesia, supports the informational needs of decision makers in the business, non-profit, and public sectors.

In 2014, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan appointed Basu Chair of the Maryland Economic Development Commission. He also serves as chairman of the Baltimore County Economic Advisory Committee. In addition to his work with ABC National and the CFMA, he serves similar functions for Visit Baltimore, the Maryland Association of Realtors, and Marcum, LLC.

A popular lecturer in Global Strategy at Johns Hopkins University, Basu  has also taught international economics, urban economics, and micro- and macroeconomics at Johns Hopkins. In 2016, the Daily Record selected Mr. Basu as one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people—an honor he also enjoyed in 2007. The Baltimore Business Journal named him one of the region’s 20 most powerful business leaders in 2010.

Basu earned a B.S. in Foreign Service at Georgetown University in 1990, after which he earned a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a Master’s in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park. He then attended the University of Maryland School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree.

The Construction Leadership Network (CLN) was formed on the principal of bringing together top construction entrepreneurs and their key personnel to exchange ideas and share best practices to improve the industry, themselves, and their organizations.

This sharing, learning and winning environment continues throughout the year with the Member e-Forum, an automated email discussion group facilitating interactive conversations with peer members, and the e-Docs, a document library of forms, policies, manuals, and other important resources shared by member companies to help each other succeed.

The success of CLN is incumbent upon having members who believe in the philosophy of a win-win approach, are trustworthy and are committed to creating a supportive environment for sharing best practices. We welcome you to become a valued member of the Construction Leadership Network.
